defeat the enemy of which there is two.
in the middle of the map you will find a lot of gold it is in a dead end canyon so should be able to defend.
this is my first attempt so please send comments. enjoy
Let me start by saying that I think this scenario would have been better suited as a multiplayer scenario... as it is, it is quite hard to review, as it doesn't deviate much from a skirmish map.
Playability: 2.4
The playability of this map is hard to judge, since the gameplay factor is basically the same as playing against the computer in a skirmish. You are given different starting conditions, but apart from that there is little in the gameplay to differentiate the map from the standard game.
Balance: 2.5
Again, the balance is hard to judge, since it depends on your skill as a player. You are playing against the AI, so a decent player won't find a challenge. However, any difficulty isn't really the doing of the designer - it is merely you against the preprogrammed AI of the game. Trigger effects, or alternate victory conditions, could have brought a new challenge to the scenario.
Creativity: 1.9
The focal point of this map was the plethora of gold in its centre. A decent concept, but it was not executed well. There was enough gold elsewhere on the map that the central mass of gold did not really alter the gameplay. A better way to pull off this idea would have been to provide the player with very little gold at the beginning, to force them to explore the central gold.
Map Design: 2
There were some nice parts of this map, notably the areas with the rivers and bridges. Elevation was used well here. However, much of the remainder of the map was extremely bland - there were large areas of nothing but grass, large enough that you could see no other terrain on screen when you were fighting in them. This detracted from the completeness of the map, and was unfortunate, as the river areas were promising.
Story/Instructions: 1
There was no story and no instructions, other than "kill the enemy". Since this was a single player scenario, some more effort could have been made to provide some context to the scenario. As it was, playing it felt pointless.
Overall, this scenario is nothing more than a skirmish type map with altered starting conditions and a huge mass of gold in the centre of the map. It would have been better implemented as a multiplayer scenario, where some fun could have been achieved from facing human opposition.
